The Collective and Individual Embodiment of Grief and the Sensing Return to Right Relationship
“Art is a wound turned into light.” Georges Braque
We often don’t view grief as a creative force in our lives, so laden down by wearing love in a heavy coat of loss. But, when reframed or revisioned, we can walk with our grief in a grounded and grateful way. We live in such a grief-phobic and death-denying over-culture and are relentlessly inundated by the compounded grief of climate change, world wars, pandemics, and crises of health, racism, misogyny, and colonialism which seeks to deny our inherent indigenous wisdom that we need community to do our greatest healing. What we lose is the art of witnessing and with-nessing, which invites us to hold one another and to gently be held.
During this offering, Michelle and Shannon will help to nourish you in your grief and meet you where you are, while offering somatic, creative, and ceremonial practices that will invite you to flow with your own tidal rhythms of grief and gratitude. We welcome you to co-create this collaboration and rite of passage in the night-sea journey and find the illumination of your own alchemical strength and power rooted in love.
For this sacred space, please bring items of your own medicine: sacred objects, photos, mementos, etc for the building of a community altar that will honor our ancestors, Mother Earth, and the powerful qualities of forgiveness.
Together we will release what no longer serves us. We will invoke blessings for a life built from a deeper foundation of vocation and the gifts we came here to give for the healing of the world. Please bring an intentional gift or offering to exchange with others participating in the ritual. This can be a piece of art you create, an object from Nature, a favorite book, etc. The idea is that we are creating a give-away in this process to encourage and welcome abundance into our lives, with the hopes that just the right gift will be given to the person it is meant for. Put your heart and thought into this gift and be prepared to share a story as to why you brought it.
Please dress comfortably and be ready to move in a gentle and supportive way. No previous yoga experience is needed. Feel free to reach out at [email protected] with any questions. We are here to support you. The ceremony is already beginning.
