About this Event
Elevate 215 and the Community College of Philadelphia invite you to attend a jointly hosted event on Monday, April 24th from 5-7pm titled - The Education Interview: How Our Next Mayor Can Move Education Forward at the Community College of Philadelphia-Winnet Student Life Building, The Great Hall, 1700 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130 (Winnet Building is on 17th street between Spring Garden St. & Callowhill St.).
For this event, each mayoral candidate will get their own interview where questions about K through postsecondary education and career pathways will be presented by a panel of education leaders, including: Dr. Stacy E. Holland, Executive Director, Elevate 215; Aliya Catanch-Bradley, Principal, School District of Philadelphia's Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School; and, Dr. Seth Jacobson, Executive Director, Octavius Catto Scholarship at the Community College of Philadelphia.
To date, our planning team has invited all mayoral candidates who filed campaign finance reports for the first quarter of 2023 by the April 3rd deadline. Four of those eight candidates have confirmed attendance for this event.
This event will build on core areas identified in the release of Elevate 215's report about how our next mayor can move schools forward, as covered in the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Tribune, and will provide candidates with an opportunity to go deeper on how they plan to move schools forward for Philadelphia students and families if elected.
Elevate 215 is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that all PreK-12 schools in Philadelphia are vivid and inspiring learning environments where students discover and reach their fullest potential. The Community College of Philadelphia is the largest public, open-admission institution of higher education in Philadelphia, and is hosting this “Every Voice, Every Vote” project on campus as a part of its voter education and outreach efforts with the student community.
