The Edinburgh School: Influences and Reflections
Lecture to accompany the exhibition ‘Adam Bruce Thomson: The Quiet Path’
While much is known and has been written about the famed Edinburgh School Artists, there has been less attention drawn to their teachers and the slightly older group of artists including Henry Lintott, one of the first members of the staff at the ECA, and the lesser-known Eric Robertson. This generation of artists, heavily influenced by French art and the tumultuous period of history, and leading up to the First World War were important players in Edinburgh society of the time, and the creation of what we now call the Edinburgh School Group.
Theodore Albano is Collection Manager, and co-curator of the Fleming Wyfold Art Foundation, one of the leading collections of Scottish art. He received his MLITT from the University of Aberdeen.
