The Ebony Canal: Film Screening + Panel Discussion

Wellpoint Maryland and Nadia Care present an evening on Black maternal health, featuring the NAACP Image Award winning short documentary The Ebony Canal, narrated by Academy Award winner Viola Davis.

According to the CDC, Black women in the United States die from pregnancy related causes at nearly three times the rate of white women. The Ebony Canal confronts that reality, and the work underway to change it.

Hosted at Morgan State University, this gathering brings together clinicians, researchers, advocates, students, and community members for a screening followed by a panel conversation with the filmmakers, physicians, and advocates leading this movement.
