A nature program focuses on the importance of Missouri's geology, from its role in shaping the state's economy to its impact on the natural environment. The fascinating geology of Missouri, with a special focus on the Hannibal region, will be explained by Alan Ruble, mining engineer and local geologist, along with the ancient forces that shaped Missouri.
Having worked for the Continental Cement Company for more than 25 years, Alan knows a lot about our local limestone and how it has been used all over the world. This program combines science, history and Alan’s unique experience to illuminate the connections between the earth beneath our feet and the community around us.
This free nature program is led by Hannibal Parks & Recreation’s Nature Interpreter Gale Rublee and members of the Mississippi Hills Missouri Master Naturalist chapter. Reservations may be made on the HannibalParks.org website: www.hannibalparks.recdesk.com/Community/Program
