DUNHILL BLUES MARK 20 YEARS WITH FAREWELL SHOWS FOR DRUMMER ADAM "VINESY" VINES + SPECIAL GUESTSTHIRROUL, NSW: Australia's best B-grade garage-punk party band, the DUNHILL BLUES are closing out a milestone year with a bittersweet announcement: a run of farewell shows for longtime drummer Adam “Vinesy” Vines.
Celebrating 20 years as a band in 2026, the Dunnies have seen their fair share of lineup changes, but this one has us reaching for the Kleenex. (No, not in that way, ya perverts!).
“The past few years Vinesy has been spreading himself pretty thin between Dunnies, The Strike-Outs and The Sugar Beats. Something had to give,” the band said. “We’ve had lots of members come and go, but man oh man, this one really stings.”
A defining force in the band’s most enduring lineup alongside Spewy and Mick, Vinesy has been central to a kickarse period that saw the band tour Europe, release a couple of very cool records, and cement the Dunnies' reputation as a powerful, balls-out band.
For those in the know, beyond the Dunhill Blues, Vinesy is a driving force in the indie music scene: co-running Evil Tone Records with his brother, Simon, and booking shows at Ryan’s Hotel in Thirroul, where he’s helped foster a vital hub for touring and local acts.
Beyond the stage, the connection runs deeper. As Dan Dunhill puts it: “We grew up in the same town (2480!) and somehow didn’t meet until way later ... just because our bands ended up on the same bill. Then he joined ours. Funny how it works.”
This farewell run promises to capture the full spirit of the Dunhill Blues -- equal parts rock'n'roll chaos and camaraderie -- with a setlist picked by Vinesy himself. Anything could happen!
In true Dunnies fashion (including powder-blue suits), the send-off comes with heart and humour in goddamn spades. Dan Dunhill sez: “Thanks for putting me onto energy bananas. Thanks for being incredibly chill about me pissing on your jacket while sleepwalking in Santander (still think it was Spewy). But mostly, thanks for being a genuinely great human and one of the funnest people to be around.”
With just three shows to go, catch the band in their Vinesy era one last time! It's gonna be LOUD (and probably a bit emotional).
