The Duke of Burgundy is a sensuous, dreamlike study of love, power and ritual within the relationship of two women obsessed with lepidoptery. Cynthia and Evelyn enact carefully constructed scenes of dominance and submission, but as desires shift, the balance between fantasy and reality becomes strained.
