GNAG Community Theatre proudly presents The Drowsy Chaperone as part of our ongoing theatre education program.Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.
With the houselights down, a woman in a chair appears on stage and puts on her favourite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.
Hailed by New York Magazine as "The Perfect Broadway Musical," The Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre.
Eleanor Crowder directs the staging. Lauren Saindon directs the music. Ciana Van Dusen does the choreography. Together, along with their incredible production team and talented community players, we present a show which will make more than your voice soar.

Seating is General Admission and the theatre will open at 6:45 and 1:45 pm.
We will be serving refreshments and will accept cash, debit or VISA, MC. We only have one card machine so cash may be faster.
Refreshments may be taken into the theatre.
We will be serving alcohol (wine) on Friday and Saturday evenings.
This show is not recommended for children under 8 years.

There is no reserved seating.
We do not allow recording or photos during the performance but you are welcome to take photos or videos at the end of the show with our performers’ permission of course.
