This special edition is our tribute to Song and Surf Music festival. Thanks to Clark for collaborating on this lineup for a little pre party for the festival this weekend. All these DJ’s will be performing at the festival this year, so come get a taste and have a dance.
We almost had Mr. Moffat of Naturalist join us for an impromptu jam after his set at Rifflandia this year, so have been in contact since to make sure we could get him down at the next possible moment, and this is it. One of the vibiest house acts who has been able to take the sound and translate it to festival slots, without resorting to showy drops and machine gun builds. Super excited for him to take the reigns and anchor this show.
Neil Jam3s is more than a local legend. His various projects reach far and wide- radio play, festival slots, headlining club gigs- whether as a studio engineer and producer out of Burning Rainbow studios, raucous front man for Victoria touring band Astrocolor, Half of live techno act Righteous Rainbows Of Togetherness, DJ sets with DJ Murge as Infinite Brothers… We are honoured to have him come down to rock the spot solo.
Hrdvsion needs no introduction. He is part of our cities dance music DNA. He has a slew of releases on seminal international techno and house labels. Has played some of the world’s most iconic clubs- did the damn thing and moved to Berlin for years. He last played the Downbeat with Efemme as live analogue techno, acid, breaks outfit Hot Sleepers (returning in april!). We were excited for him to take the extended opening set. We can’t wait to hear what selections he brings

When you have explored as many styles as Hrdvsion has - everything from beatless, ambient tracks to rugged club cuts or pop bootlegs - there isn’t so much new ground to break.
That said, with time Hrdvsion's need to challenge the norm has eased and their boundlessly experimental streak has become more focused. Their impressive discography, spread across labels such as Wagon Repair, 20:20 Vision, Rinse and International Deejay Gigolo, hints at a producer who has valued diversity above all, with records that have been long turned to by DJs right across the board, always guaranteeing them a striking and unusual sound.
Now, without the pressure to surprise and re-invent, Hrdvsion can go deeper into their craft and pinpoint what it is that linked their output over the years.
