The Dinner Table at Love Makoto (DC)

​A 3-course Japanese izakaya dinner from a chef who trained under Morimoto and appeared on Iron Chef. A buzzy, high-energy space inspired by Japan's late-night food culture. A room full of interesting people you haven't met yet — and seat rotations that guarantee you will.

​This is The Dinner Table Club: a dinner party with strangers that somehow feels like dinner with friends by the end of the night.

​You'll arrive at Love, Makoto on Massachusetts Avenue and meet the group over a complimentary glass of wine. Once everyone's settled in, we'll sit down for a 3-course family-style Japanese dinner, with two seat rotations between courses so you meet everyone at the table. Our host facilitates the evening with light conversation prompts and seat rotations. By dessert, you'll have exchanged numbers with people you'll actually want to see again.

​Love, Makoto is Celebrity Chef Makoto Okuwa's return to Washington, DC — a culinary love letter to the city where he launched his career at Sushi Taro over two decades ago. In the years since, he's been head sushi chef for Masaharu Morimoto, appeared on Iron Chef, and opened restaurants spanning Miami, Mexico City, and São Paulo.

​This is our first time hosting at Love, Makoto, and we couldn't be more excited to bring The Dinner Table to one of DC's most ambitious restaurants.

• ​Dinner service includes a family-style 3-course dinner for each guest.
• ​Each guest will also receive one complementary glass of wine included with their ticket purchase.
• ​Additional beverages can be purchased throughout the event.

​7:00 PM - 7:30 PM: Mix and Mingle

• ​Come and meet with other Dinner Table guests, get to know who you'll be dining with!
• ​1 Complimentary Drink: a glass of wine served at check-in.

​7:30 PM - 9:30 PM: Family-Style Dinner Service

• ​Guests will switch seats between courses!

​9:30 PM - 10:00 PM: Closing Announcements

• ​Closing remarks to conclude the afternoon.
• ​This is your chance to exchange contact information with those you've met!

1. ​​What is the general age range of your events? ​​We encourage guests from all ages and backgrounds to attend our events. Our programming is tailored to anyone looking to meet others. ​​Generally, we've seen the age range of our events to be between 25-40 years old. That's not to say anyone outside of that range can't attend!
2. ​What's the difference between General Admission tickets and Men & Women tickets? ​Any ticket purchase gets the same experience, there is no difference. ​We've created gendered tickets to ensure a relatively even distribution of guests at our events. GA is open to anyone.
3. ​​Can I come alone? ​​Yes, we encourage it! Our goal at The Dinner Table is to create meaningful connections through cuisine and art. Many of our guests leave with new friends at the end of the event.
4. ​​What is your refund policy? ​​We understand sometimes things come up, and that's why we offer a full credit to your next event if you cancel ten days before the event
5. ​​Are you able to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies? Yes. Our team ensures the restaurant's menus are flexible to account for a wide array of dietary preferences.
