Join us for what is on everyone's top 10 roads in the United States, the Devil's Highway, US 191 along the border of Arizona and New Mexico. Dubbed The Devil's Highway back when it was named US 666 because it was the 6th extension off of US Rt 66, the 123 mile stretch of road between Springerville and Clifton has a challenging 460 turns!We will be doing things a little differently this year. We will be running the road from north to south, downhill! This will give the ride a different feel along with a new set of challenges!
For those of us that are riding two up, on large touring bikes, cruisers and generally not up for the challenge, we will be offering an alternate route down US 180 on the New Mexico side which is scenic but not as technically challenging as 191. We will split into two groups at the gas stop in Alpine.
Pack a light lunch! Since this will be a long, hard day, we will have an extended gas stop in Alpine to allow for some time to fuel, eat, take a bio break and stretch your legs. We encourage you to eat light since the most challenging part of the ride is ahead of you! Reward yourself with a nice dinner!
The difficulty level of this ride is ADVANCED. This ride will have a moderate but entertaining sport touring pace with roads providing a challenge. Be prepared for extremes in temperature, weather and long days in the saddle. This will be a great ride for intermediate/advanced touring riders as well as cruisers and people riding two-up. Roughly 430 miles total (366 Alternate Route) from start to end point. Your mileage may vary.
