OCTOBER 2026 AGENDA
Tuesday 27th October - 5 Year Anniversary Special!
MAIN SPEAKER: Andy Street | Prosper UK
Topic of Talk: Building for Growth – Housing, Development and the Future of Our Regions (Followed by Q&A)
Join us for a very special evening as The Developers Network Birmingham celebrates its 5-year anniversary, bringing together property developers, investors, landlords, and industry professionals for an evening of insight, networking and real opportunities.
This month, we’re delighted to welcome Andy Street – Co-Chair of Prosper UK, First Mayor of the West Midlands and former Managing Director of John Lewis, and Chair of Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
Building for Growth – Housing, Development and the Future of Our Regions
In this session, Andy will reflect on his seven years as Mayor of the West Midlands and share his perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing property development, housing and regeneration.
What will you learn?
You’ll gain insight into:
✓ Housing delivery and regeneration – How the West Midlands approached housing delivery and regeneration, and the lessons learned along the way.
✓ The “brownfield first” strategy – Why brownfield development became such a major part of the region’s housing plans and what this meant for developers.
✓ Transport and development – How transport infrastructure can unlock new development, new homes and wider regeneration opportunities.
✓ Planning across different authorities – The realities of working with planning authorities with different priorities, and the challenges this can create when delivering development.
✓ The future of the UK planning system – What needs to change to help deliver more homes while maintaining quality.
✓ What comes next for the region – Andy’s work with Prosper UK and how its future plans could influence housing, regeneration and development.
Extended Audience Q&A
The session will be followed by an extended audience Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to put their own questions directly to Andy.
This is a rare opportunity to hear first-hand lessons, challenges and future thinking from someone who spent seven years at the heart of major housing, transport and regeneration decisions across the West Midlands.
Whether you’re actively developing, looking for your next opportunity, investing in the region, working in planning or construction, or simply want a better understanding of where Birmingham and the wider West Midlands are heading, this is a conversation worth being part of.
This event is ideal for:
✓ Property developers and investors
✓ Landlords looking to grow or reposition their portfolios
✓ Planning, construction, finance and development professionals
✓ Architects, consultants and built-environment professionals
✓ Anyone interested in housing, regeneration and the future of the West Midlands
✓ Property professionals looking to build stronger relationships and access real opportunities
Our events bring together active developers, investors, landlords and trusted industry professionals in a welcoming, non-cliquey environment where genuine conversations and relationships happen.
With informal networking and drinks before the main event, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to meet people, share ideas, discuss projects and make valuable connections.
And because this is our 5-year anniversary special, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the TDN Birmingham community and the relationships that have helped make it what it is today.
If you’re serious about property and want to hear directly from someone who has been at the heart of major decisions shaping the West Midlands, make sure you’re in the room.
