B-Movie Euphoria says goodbye to AUTEUR AUGUST and summer with director/producer/wonder woman Penelope Spheeris' documentary The Decline Of Western Civilization: Part II The Metal Years!
After covering the dawn of the hardcore punk movement in LA with the original Decline Of Western Civilization, Spheeris turned her attention to the Hollywood heavy metal crowd in the mid to late 80s. The excesses of hair metal culture are explored with some of rock's most prominent stars providing candid interviews weighing in on the industry. Also featured are the up and coming (or so they think) rockstars and their bands; as well as the groupies, fans, models, promoters, headbangers and other characters that make up The Sunset Strip. Dreams are shared, riffs are played, orange juice and vodka are spilled. Can a scene this sleazy and artificial really sustain itself forever? Or is the future of metal following the trends of the new thrash sound? Western Civilization seems to be declining, but the party is just getting started!
