About this Event

About the speaker and the series...

Sister Cora Marie Billings has been a member of the Institute of the Sisters of
Mercy of the Americas for 66 years. During that time she has been a Teacher, a
Campus Minister and an Administrator. She is one of the Founding Members of
the National Black Sisters’ Conference. Since 1968 she has been an advocate for
human rights and anti-racism. . As such she has done presentations around the
nation. At present she considers herself a Community Volunteer.

The Deacon Charles Williams Speaker Series for Racial Healing honors the memory of Deacon Charles Williams (1951–2022) and continues his mission to educate groups and individuals on racial injustice, racial healing and preserving the history of the Black Catholic experience in the Diocese of Richmond. It is hosted by The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart where Deacon Charles Williams served as a permanent deacon from 2013 to 2022.
