The Culinary Canvas: A Progressive Dinner by the Imperial Calcasieu Museum

Join us on Thursday, May 30th, from 6 - 9 PM, for an exclusive Progressive Dinner benefiting the Imperial Calcasieu Museum! Here's what's in store:

We will be whisking you across three venues over the course of the night. Enjoy exciting appetizers and bubbles at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum, a unique main course at Historic City Hall, and delicious desert at the Residency at the Museum artist studios. Each course is being meticulously designed by our Chef-Artist pairings, with vegetarian offerings available upon advance request.

Location 1: Imperial Calcasieu Museum
Indulge in appetizers designed and prepared by Chef Joshua Moore and artist Lyd Walls paired with bubbles amidst the captivating artworks of Christopher Latil's abstract exhibit "Mercurial Horizons." Chef Moore's culinary creations will tantalize your taste buds as you immerse yourself in history, culture, and art.

Location 2: Historic City Hall
Savor a delectable main course dinner designed and prepared by Chef Amanda Cusey and artist Elizabeth Thompson surrounded by the rich tapestry of regional and local artists' works at The Historic City Hall. Residency at the Museum's 2023 Cohort One Exhibition provides an intimate setting for food lovers.

Location 3: Residency Studios
Sweeten your evening with delectables designed and prepared by Chef Rebekah Hoffpauir and artist Robbie Austin at our Residency Studios, the atelier of the Residency at the Musem artists. Residency artists participate in a nine-month program where they are given access to monetary and physical space to create their bodies of work. Your support at this event contributes to the vibrant Southwest Louisiana art scene and cultural growth.

Chef Joshua Moore

Joshua Moore grew up in a large family. In their Cajun culture, food was always a way to show love and bring family and friends together. He inherited this passion from his mother and grandmother. Joshua started cooking at home at the age of 12 and before joining the industry at 17. Starting as a dishwasher, Joshua grew to learn every role through experience. Surpassing roles such as Executive Chef, Area Supervisor, and Director of Operations, Joshua is now an independent caterer and consultant who uses his knowledge and experience to help the community, especially his black culture.

Chef Amanda Cusey
Meet Chef Amanda Cusey, known for her innovative and delicious creations, trained at the prestigious Tante' Marie Culinary Academy in Surrey, England. Chef Amanda has earned acclaim, including being crowned the Queen of Seafood at the 15th annual Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off. As the Executive Chef at Lake Charles’ The Terrace at Lake Area Adventures, she brings her culinary expertise to every dish. Beyond the kitchen, Chef Amanda is passionate about animal welfare and serves as the owner of Do Good Dog Rescue.

Chef Rebekah Hoffpauir

Rebekah Hoffpauir is a passionate and driven pastry chef and bakery owner. From childhood, baking was her calling, starting with an Easy-Bake Oven and growing into a love for coffee shops and bakeries during family trips to Europe. After graduating with a degree in Business Management, Rebekah realized that she could turn her passion into a career. In 2016, she brought her dream to life by opening The Bekery, a Parisian-inspired pastry shop in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The name cleverly combines “Bekah” with “bakery,” into a playful mashup. Since then, her bakery has become a beloved spot, cherished by the local community. Rebekah's journey from a young girl baking cookies to a successful bakery owner reflects her determination and passion for creating exquisite pastries. Her dedication to her craft and the joy she brings to her community make her a cherished part of the Lake Charles culinary scene.

Transportation: Transportation will be provided for this event. Parking will be at Imperial Calcasieu Museum.
