Is the era of U.S. global dominance coming to an end?
What does the Trump era reveal about the crisis of capitalism and shifting global power relations?
Stavros Mavroudeas is Professor of Political Economy at Panteion University in Greece. As a Marxist political economist, his work focuses on the structural connections between economic crises, shifts in global power, and the rise of political authoritarianism in contemporary capitalism.
In this lecture, Mavroudeas moves beyond individual political events and personalities to examine the structural forces shaping the current global order. Using the Trump administration as a key reference point, he explores how economic crises, imperial power, and political authoritarianism intersect in today’s world economy — and what these developments tell us about the future of U.S. hegemony.
The event aims to open a critical discussion on capitalism, global power structures, and authoritarian tendencies in the current world economy.
The lecture will be followed by a discussion and Q&A.
🍻 After the event, everyone is warmly invited to continue the discussion informally over drinks at Auróra.
📩 The event is free and open to the public, but please take the time to register through this link:
