This live acoustic one-person folk cabaret explores the true life, songs and stories of this first female modern folk singer-songwriter named Connie Converse whose songs written in the early 1950s helped pave the way for the legends who materialized a decade later. She predated Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez to name a few.
Connie Converse hasn’t been seen or heard from since that August day in 1974 when she packed up her belongings in her VW Bug and drove away never to be seen again. 35 years after her disappearance her songs were re-discovered when a CD was put out in 2009 of her original 1954 song demos which went viral on Spotify.
Singer-songwriter Hope Levy performs this entertaining and engaging 60 min. live acoustic folk show sharing the stories, songs, and the mystery of Connie Converse’s disappearance along with creative interludes and coincidences from Hope’s life along the way.

Folk pop singer-songwriter Hope Levy is no stranger to folk music, having sung as a child on children’s records with the legendary Malvina Reynolds (Little Boxes, Magic Penny) and on her own 45-record titled “Hope and Her Friends” (with songs written by Marla Hunt “The Ace of Cups” and folk-celestial singer Laura Allan). Hope has a background in musical theatre, having performed lead roles in Los Angeles productions of “Les Misérables” at the Shubert Theatre, “The Rocky Horror Show” at the Tiffany Theatres (with David Arquette), the lead role of “Mary Bland” in Paul Bartel’s “Eating Raoul, The Musical” directed by Tony award winner Scott Wittman at The Odyssey Theatres, Justin Tanner’s “Heartbreak Help” at The Cast Theatre, and sang a solo in the musicals “SHOWBOAT” at the Hollywood Bowl and “THE MUSIC MAN” the latter alongside Eric McCormack and Kristin Chenoweth. Hope is also a working voice-over actress on numerous animated shows; she plays the “Mom” of Boss Baby in “Boss Baby: Back in Business” on Netflix, as well as voicing beloved characters in games, commercials, and live action. She can be heard singing “Welcome to Duloc” in DreamWorks “SHREK” and singing in the language of Na'vi in James Cameron’s “AVATAR.” She is also the voice in the iconic beloved game and the reboot as well as voicing Rebecca Chambers in “RESIDENT EVIL: BIOHAZARD”.
Hope currently lends her voice to the Los Angeles band “Circlons,” where recent Los Angeles gigs include Blipsy Bar , The Vine in Long Beach, and has had the pleasure of performing her own folk-pop songs at The Hotel Café, The Federal Bar (in part with Hollowbody LA), The Trip, Redwood Bar and Cinema Bar. Hope’s music and CDs are in the vein of a Jill Sobule meets Susan Werner, and can be found streaming on Spotify (“Menagerie” and “Far Sawrey”).
Hope is currently performing her 60 minute live acoustic folk cabaret show “The Connie Converse Universe, Starring Hope Levy” based on the true person Connie Converse who was our first female modern folk singer-songwriter from the early 1950s predating Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Baez to name a few and in August of 1974, Connie disappeared from the world forever… or did she? Hope has been performing this show around Los Angeles at the historic El Portal Theatre’s “Monroe Forum”, The BFF Binge Fringe Festivals of Shows at Santa Monica Playhouse, “The Back Room” in Berkeley, Ca, a backer’s audition in NYC in Dec. 2024, and performs a version of the show at assisted living facilities who are hungry for new shows especially folk shows with catchy folk songs and a mystery! This May & June 2024 Hope will be performing the CONNIE CONVERSE UNIVERSE, STARRING HOPE LEVY at the San Diego International Fringe Festival and Hollywood Fringe.

All sales are final. There are no refunds or exchanges for PRS events, except in the event of a medical emergency, including but not limited to a positive COVID-19 test.
In the event that PRS is forced to cancel an event entirely, tickets will be refunded or vouchers offered for a rescheduled event.
PARKING
Limited parking is available onsite at PRS in both the front lot (entry from Los Feliz Blvd. when heading east) and back lot (entry from first alley way, off Griffith Park Blvd. from intersection with Los Feliz Blvd.), as well as street parking on Griffith Park Blvd. and (after 7 PM) on Los Feliz Blvd. We encourage attendees to consider carpooling, walking or biking to events if possible, and please be considerate of our Los Feliz neighbors when parking, many thanks.
PRS EVENT POLICIES

-We encourage you to arrive at least 30 min. before the scheduled event start time to find parking, enjoy the Bookstore and take your seats.

-No filming, audio recording or mobile phone recording of events, screenings, concerts or other programs by audience members is allowed without permission.
-There is no smoking permitted on PRS grounds.
-We strongly encourage guests to wear masks to PRS events to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
-PRS allows Service Animals into the facility under ADA and state guidelines. For further details please visit www.ADA.gov. No animals permitted whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support, under ADA guidelines and CA Health Code.
