The Congos er et ikonisk reggaeband fra Jamaica, som blev formet i halvfjerdserne, og som stadig optræder med sit oprindelige lineup den dag i dag. Nemlig Cedric Myton, Ashanti Roy og Watty Burnet samt Talash, som er bandets nyeste medlem. Med tilbagelænede rytmer, dristige basgange og deres karakteristiske vokalharmonier, spiller The Congos op til både samhørighed, fest og ekstase. I 1977 udgav The Congos det berømte album ‘Heart of the Congos’, der blev indspillet i den jamaicanske reggae- og dubproducer Lee “Stratch” Perrys musikstudie Black Ark Studios. ‘Heart of the Congos’ kom i 2003 på NMEs liste “100 Best Albums of All Time”. På albummet finder man desuden musiknummeret “Fisherman”, som i følge musikmagasinet Rolling Stone er blandt de ti bedste reggaesange nogensinde. Men The Congos er ikke bare et nostalgitrip.
