About this Event
Calling all Black Barbers and Stylists!
The Confess Project is the first and largest organization committed to building a culture of mental health for Black boys, men, and their families. How? We focus on empowering frontline heroes and sheroes in communities across America. More specifically, we train barbers to be mental health advocates.
The Confess Project, Kente Circle, and UCare invite you to support your clients with Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder concerns, when they bring these issues with them to the barbershop/salon.
With 1 in 5 people in the U.S. being affected by mental illness, there has never been a more urgent need for mental health advocacy.
This is an in-person training to prepare you to offer Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder support to your clients.
The first 100 registrants will receive a $100 Visa Gift Card.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about the meeting.
Special guests include elected officials, a Global Barber Educator who will be giving a demonstration, and a well-known spoken word artist who will discuss the impact of mental health support in our communities.
Community Resource tables will be available at the event, as well as continuing follow-up resources.
There are many public transportation options to Sabathani Community Center, as well as free parking onsite.
The venue requires that everyone wear a mask. We can provide one for you.
