The Complex Cultural Meanings of Moral Eating
Michaela DeSoucey

Co-presented with the New Mexico History Museum

Michaela DeSoucey discusses the moral arguments and politics of food production and promotion and how they intertwine with social identities, cultural context, and class inequalities. DeSoucey’s sociological perspective on moral eating offers a critical examination of the power and complexity of meaning-making about food. Dr. DeSoucey is an Associate Professor of Sociology and the Director of the Sociology Graduate Program at North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
