Join the BADA Friends for an exclusive evening at the College of Arms in the City of London. Founded in 1484 it continues its work today to create and maintain the official register of coats of arms and pedigrees. The heralds who make up the College are members of the Royal Household and act under Crown Authority.
The tour encompasses the Earl Marshal’s Court, the Waiting Room and the Record Room; in the last room there is a chance to see a representative range of historic manuscripts belonging to the College and illustrating its history and work from the late Middle Ages to the present day.
We will be accompanied on the tour by Dr Clive Cheesman MA PhD FSA whose official title is Norroy & Ulster King of Arms and Earl Marshal’s Secretary who will talk about the history of the building, the area in which it stands, the profession of herald or officer of arms, the practice, law and history of heraldry, and the modern work of the College.
The tour will last about an hour and a half and will be followed by light refreshments.
