The aim is to paddle for 4-5 hours on Saturday, launching from Ellets Beach in the Manukau Harbour, taking out at Papakura where we will stay somewhere on Saturday night (details TBC).
Then on Sunday, the portage will start at from Papakura, through to Clevedon Village until we reach the Wairoa River. Total 13.9km portage. We will paddle out to the sea and take out at Kauri Bay on the East Coast. This route recreates one of the traditional Maori portage routes across the Auckland isthmus.
