Join us for this fascinating program united by a theme of tragedy: works that were initially met with disappointment, uncertainty, or confusion at their premieres, yet ultimately became enduring masterpieces of the classical repertoire. From the intimate sorrow of Verdi’s La Traviata Prelude to the inexorable triumph of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, each piece reflects music born of adversity and transformed by time. At the heart of the program is Elgar’s deeply emotional Cello Concerto, performed by young Israeli cellist Yarden Cavenor. Together, these works stand as powerful reminders that some of the greatest legacies in music emerged from moments of doubt and tragedy.
