Nishit Dey is one of Bangladesh’s leading sitar virtuosos, representing the distinguished Imdadkhani (Etawah) Gharana. A third-generation musician from the renowned Dey family of Mymensingh, he is the grandson of Pandit Mithun Dey and son of noted musician Sanjib Dey.
His musical journey began with tabla and vocal training under his father and paternal uncle, Shri Asit Dey. He later studied sitar under Sheikh Sattar Muhammed and Pandit Ashim Chowdhury. As a scholar of Bengal Parampara Sangeetalay, he received advanced tutelage from internationally acclaimed sitar maestro Pandit Kushal Das, refining his artistry in the Imdadkhani tradition.
Known for his lyrical expression, technical brilliance, and meditative approach to raga, Nishit has performed at prestigious festivals and concerts, blending traditional purity with a distinctive personal voice for diverse audiences.
With over a decade of teaching experience, he mentors students worldwide through Sitar Gurukul and previously served as COO of Gurukul, supporting its educational initiatives and international outreach.
Nishit Dey is also a global educator (Sitar Gurukul), Founder of JOG Digital Solutions, and Director at Satori Academy of Arts.
