What happens when nerd rock musician, Chris Waffle, and Canby City Councilor, Sarah Spoon, join forces to create music influenced by their love of pop culture and passion for social justice? The answer is The Chris Waffle Explosion. Formed during the pandemic shutdown of 2020, isolation led to creation. Now they're ready to bring their satirical/nerdcore rap to the masses.
Sarah Spoon developed a love for performance as a nationally ranked high school value debater and in collegiate policy debate. She owns a residential real estate brokerage, and works for a DEIB non-profit whose mission is intersectional gender and pay equity. She is a twice elected city councilor committed to supporting historically marginalized communities, improving the housing crisis, and enhancing the parks system. She has appeared on several board game and comic convention panels to discuss why women and nerds should run for office. She has emceed national conventions and was awarded the Advocate of the Year by a health charity in 2016 with Chris Waffle.
Chris Waffle has been writing and performing music for more than 25 years. He started his career as part of the comedy rock duo Hot Waffles who appeared with Kevin Smith, Dr. Demento, Tommy Chong and on KROQ. He's made appearances on The Travel Channel's America's Worst Driver, Attack of the Show, and in the feature film The People vs. George Lucas. His current nerd rock group, Megathruster, has performed at Rose City Comic Con, and Gen-Con. He's a frequent comic convention nerd music panelist, and has emceed other national conventions. He was awarded the Advocate of the Year by a health charity in 2016 with Sarah Spoon.

Host Daria Eluik - Daria, has been out and about in Portland for over 20 years, as both a familiar face and voice throughout the city. She has been a weather woman, emcee, and wedding officiant as well as one of the most popular DJs on various radio stations
Shubzilla & Bill Beats - Shubzilla and Bill Beats began working together in 2011. Starting with the single "Wonderful World" for "Bill Beats For President Vol.1," the duo moved on to make more albums, including “The Kong Quest,” the single “GOLDEN,” and most recently “The Belmont Tapes.” They have SXSW, MAGfest 2018, The Never Give Up Never Surrender Tour under their belts, along with performances at Norwescon, the PAXWest Nerdcore Showcase, and many others. Shubzilla and Bill Beats are the founders and hosts of Noir Grime’s Friday Night Get Down, a monthly hip hop showcase in the Seattle area. With Shubzilla's frank and aggressive lyrics and Bill Beats' penchant for samples and bass-heavy compositions, they do not disappoint.
Plus the the stand up comedy stylings of Kyle Riley! Kyle grew up in the Portland area but is based in Seattle. He's been performing standup all over the Puget Sound for the past three years, opening for Derek Sheen, Chris Larsen and more. He made top 3 in the Jokesters Funsters Competition.
