About this Event

Spring and Summer evoke a myriad of emotions, memories and hopes: romance,
heartbreak, and unrequited love; the patriotism of Memorial Day and July 4th; the
adventures of family life; and just some plain old fun at the beach! This Spring’s
concerts with The Charlotte Singers will touch on each of these heartstrings and more
with their all Broadway repertoire. Get ready for Summer with us!

The first performance will be on Sunday, May 19 at 4:00 PM at the Providence
Presbyterian Church’s Christian Life Center, located at 10104 Providence Church Lane,
Charlotte NC 28277. A second performance will be at The Chapel of Christ Lutheran
Church at 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 2, also at 4:00. The address is:4519 Providence Rd, Clt NC 28226. Please come early for good parking and seats.
The concerts are FREE, but tax deductible donations are gratefully accepted!

The concert will feature a few of George Cohan’s biggest hits from 1904 through WW II,
songs from “Guys and Dolls” and “South Pacific” in the 1950s, a fantastic and show
stopping medley of songs from 1987’s huge hit, “Les Miserables,” as well as a beautiful
piece from Andrew Loyd Weber’s lesser known “Cinderella,” in 2021. This concert will
deliver “all the feels,” as the kids used to say.

The group is proud to feature the talented Scott Rauschenberg on percussion, the
beautiful voice of our alumnus singer Hannah Hess, a special guest who is a rising
junior and music major at Boston University. Piano virtuoso and beloved director Helen
McCorkle Finch will multitask as she accompanies the singers and conducts the choir at
the same time!

The Charlotte Singers formed in 2015 with just 7 voices. They now have 80 plus
singers, on the way to director Helen’s goal of 100 voices. Singers range in age from
teens to seniors. Interested singers should contact Helen about joining.

Helen was born and raised in Greenville, SC. She holds a bachelor’s degree in piano
from Furman University, and a Master’s in piano performance and pedagogy from LSU
and Georgia State University. A career highlight for her was playing with world renown
bass singer Jerome Hines, of Metropolitan Opera fame. She also founded and led the
Park City Singers, a 100 member choral group, in Utah.
