This gig brings two awesome bands together for a double headline show. The Captain's Beard: one of the most seasoned pirate folk rock and sea shanty bands in the U.K. and The Roving Crows: Award winning Irish folk rock performed by a powerhouse band.
This is a gig for singing, jigging and drinking!
The Captain's Beard:
The Captain’s Beard are a pirate folk rock group from Brighton, (the drinking town with a fishing problem.) Their tunes are a mix of the Pogues meet Tenacious D. Expect songs about beards, awful second hand vans and inappropriate mermaids. They started back in 2012, doing sea shanties WAY before they were cool. Their version of "John Kanakanaka" has over three and a half million streams on streaming platforms and features in the Hollywood movie "Operation Taco Garys." Their first two albums "Same Ship Different Day" and "Completely Tankard" garner tens of thousands of listens every month. They have also won the "best album of 2024" award at the Celtcast awards in the Netherlands for their third album "Cannonballs Deep."
2026 will see them touring the U.K from Edinburgh to Brighton as well as festivals in France, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Germany.
BEARD
The Roving Crows:
Roving Crows are an Irish Folk Rock band who deliver the goods with unbounded amounts of riotous energy and banter. This Irish group seamlessly marry humour, provocative lyrics , traditional Irish tunes and rock to entertain and bring the listener on a ride that they won’t want to get off! They make a hell of a noise for 4 people!
The band, now based in Herefordshire & Worcestershire, have wowed crowds at festivals and venues across the UK, Australia, France and the Netherlands! They are a MUST SEE live act; a mix of fiery fiddle playing and conscious lyrics alongside driving drums and bass.
Their passion and energy on stage is infectious, never failing to deliver a great time with their vibrant live show! Their music pushes the boundaries of the Irish Folk genre, the jumping jigs and reels will get you dancing whilst their enquiring and provocative lyrics will make you think. The band released their 4th album ‘AWAKEN’ in 2022 and received extensive radio play across the UK as well as 4* reviews for their work. The album was fully funded by a National Lottery Project Grant.
