Join us for a practical and insightful evening focused on one of the most misunderstood parts of real estate investing — raising capital from experienced, practical investors who think like operators, not speculators.
This session features Mathew Frederick, a real estate investor, developer, and capital raiser with more than 42 years of real-world experience across residential, commercial, and land development. Rather than theory or hype, Mathew shares the lessons learned in the trenches — including the mistakes that cost investors years and millions of dollars.
Mathew began investing in income properties in 1984, eventually expanding into 12 to 64-unit multifamily buildings. Over the years he transitioned into strip plazas and self-storage developments, building a diversified portfolio grounded in practical, long-term value.
Over the past 20 years, Mathew has raised more than $300 million in non-institutional investment capital, working primarily with experienced business owners and accredited investors outside of traditional bank and private mortgage channels.
In 2007, Mathew partnered with a development company and spent the next 16 years building communities, completing 280 homes across multiple subdivisions (12, 35, and 115 homes) along with three low-rise condominium buildings.
Beyond development, Mathew has leveraged real estate ownership to launch seven restaurants, two wellness clinics, a senior day centre, and several other small businesses, demonstrating how property ownership can become the foundation for broader entrepreneurial success.
Today, Mathew focuses on helping investors understand how the system really works — and how to build durable wealth by avoiding the mistakes most people make along the way.
