นิทรรศการ “The Camp of the Wayfarers in Love” ริเริ่มโดยศิลปินชาวอิตาลี Tarshito ด้วยแรงบันดาลใจในการใช้ศิลปะเพื่อสื่อถึงการอนุรักษ์ประเพณีวัฒนธรรมของชาวท้องถิ่นรวมถึงมรดกที่สืบทอดมาตั้งแต่สมัยบรรพบุรุษ
รากฐานในการสร้างผลงานศิลปะในนิทรรศการนี้เริ่มจากการเข้าไปศึกษาและทำความเข้าใจความเป็นมาของแคว้นอะพิวเลีย ประเทศอิตาลี และเชื่อมโยงความรู้ที่ได้เข้ากับสัญลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมสากล
ในนิทรรศการนี้ ศิลปิน Tarshito เข้าไปสำรวจแนวคิดของชนเร่ร่อน (nomadism) ด้วยการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานที่ประกอบไปด้วยเต็นท์แคมป์ปิ้ง ร่วมกับศิลปินและช่างฝีมือจากหลากประเทศ ทั่วโลกและประเทศไทยเป็นประเทศแรกที่ได้เข้าร่วมในการสร้างสรรค์ครั้งนี้
Veronica Caciolli คิวเรเตอร์ในนิทรรศการนี้ ได้พา Tarshito มาพบกับชาวไทยทั้งสองผู้เต็มไปด้วยความสามารถ ได้แก่ อินสนธิ์ วงค์สาม ศิลปินแห่งชาติ ผู้ขี่สกูตเตอร์แลมเบรตต้าออกเดินทางจากกรุงเทพฯ สู่ฟลอเรนซ์ ในปี พ.ศ.2505 เพื่อตามรอยอาจารย์ศิลป์ พีระศรี ผู้เป็นอาจารย์ของเขา และรำพัด โกฏแก้ว ผู้อุทิศเวลากว่าหลายปีทำงานเพื่ออนุรักษ์วัฒนธรรมล้านนาผ่านการก่อตั้งบ้านม่อนฝ้าย ที่จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ทั้งสามได้ร่วมมือกันสร้างสรรค์ผลงานจนเกิดเป็นเต็นท์แคมป์ปิ้ง 2 หลัง พร้อมด้วยภาพวาดของ Tarshito และอินสนธิ์ วงค์สาม ร่วมด้วยผ้าไหมล้านนาโบราณคัดสรรโดยรำพัด โกฏแก้ว
หลังจากจัดแสดงที่ประเทศไทย นิทรรศการจะจัดแสดงอย่างต่อเนื่องที่จีน, อินเดีย, อินโดนีเซีย และบราซิล ซานโตโดมิงโก อิสราเอล และบังกลาเทศ
นิทรรศการที่ประเทศไทยในครั้งนี้เกิดขึ้นได้ด้วยการสนับสนุนของสถานทูตเอกอัครราชทูตอิตาลีประจำประเทศไทยและองค์กรความร่วมมือ แคว้นอะพิวเลีย ประเทศอิตาลี

TARSHITO
เกิดที่แคว้นปุลยา ประเทศอิตาลี ในปีพ.ศ. 2495 เขาจบการศึกษาจากคณะสถาปัตยกรรม ที่มหาวิทยาลัยฟลอเรนซ์ หลังจากท่องเที่ยวที่ประเทศอินเดียในปี พ.ศ. 2522 เขาได้ออกเดินทางท่องเที่ยวรอบโลกด้วยความรู้สึกประทับใจในการได้เข้าไปสัมผัสวัฒนธรรมอันหลากหลาย ผลงานของเขาแสดงให้เห็นถึงความสำคัญของการเดินทางทั้งภายในและภายนอกของขอบเขตของกาล-อวกาศ แห่งความเป็นจริง ผลงานของเขาเคยจัดแสดงที่แกลเลอรีและพิพิธภัณฑ์ต่างๆ ทั่วโลก เช่น Venice Biennale (2011) , Bengal Art Foundation ประเทศบังกลาเทศ และ Museum of Sacred Art ประเทศเบลเยียม
อินสนธิ์ วงค์สาม
เกิดวันที่ 9 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2477 ที่จังหวัดลำพูน ประเทศไทย เป็นบุตรของนาย หมื่น ผู้มีเชื้อสายเจ้าเมืองยองย้ายถิ่นมาจากทางตอนใต้ของประเทศจีน นายหมื่นเป็นช่างทองผู้มีฝีมือชั้นสูงและอินสนธิ์ได้สืบทอดความรู้ทักษะทางช่างเหล่านี้ อินสนธิ์เป็นลูกศิษย์ของศาสตราจารย์ศิลป์ พีระศรี ที่คณะจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ผลงานของเขาได้รับการชื่นชมทั่วประเทศไทย รวมถึงประเทศญี่ปุ่น, อินเดีย, ปากีสถาน, ตุรกี, ออสเตรีย, สหรัฐอเมริกา, บราซิล, ฝรั่งเศส, จีน และอิตาลี นอกจากนั้นเขายังถูกยกย่องให้เป็นผู้บุกเบิกภาพพิมพ์แกะไม้ในประเทศไทย ซึ่งทำให้เขาได้รับรางวัลต่างๆ มากมาย
รำพัด โกฏแก้ว
เป็นผู้ก่อตั้งและผู้บริหารศูนย์ศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมล้านนา “ม่อนฝ้าย” ที่จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ศูนย์วัฒนธรรมล้านนาดำเนินกิจกรรมต่างๆ เพื่ออนุรักษ์มรดกเมืองเหนือและ ศิลปหัตถกรรมพื้นบ้าน อย่างเช่น การบูรณะชิ้นงาน, การแต่งกายแบบล้านนา, งานเลี้ยงต้อนรับแบบล้านนา, และพิธีแต่งงานแบบล้านนา นอกจากนั้นยังเป็นศูนย์การเรียนรู้ที่ถ่ายทอดศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่นสู่นักเรียน, นักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัย, บุคคลทั่วไปรวมถึงนักท่องเที่ยวชาวไทยและชาวต่างชาติ โครงการ Ne-Na Contemporary art space ได้รับความร่วมมือจากศาสตราจารย์ชูกิจ ปานมงคล ซึ่งเป็นโครงการศิลปะนานาชาติที่ใช้ม่อนฝ้ายในการต้อนรับศิลปินจากทั่วโลกให้เข้ามา
VERONICA CACIOLLI
(เกิดปีพ.ศ. 2520, เมืองฟลอเรนซ์, ประเทศอิตาลี) เป็นนักประวัติศาสตร์ศิลป์, นักวิจารณ์, คิวเรเตอร์ และอาจารย์ผู้บรรยาย โดยเธอให้ความสนใจในเรื่องความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างศิลปะร่วมสมัยและของโบราณ เธอจบการศึกษาทางด้านปรัชญาจากมหาวิทยาลัยฟลอเรนซ์และมนุษยศาสตร์ที่ DAMS (Disciplines of Visual Arts, Music, Theatre, TV, and Cinema – มหาวิทยาลัยโบโลญญา) หลังจากนั้นเธอได้ศึกษาต่อทางด้านภัณฑารักษ์และการวิจารณ์ศิลปะ, ประวัติศาสตร์ศาสนา, มานุษยวิทยาศิลปะและลัทธิตะวันตกที่เบอร์ลิน, โรม, มิลาน และลอนดอน Veronica ได้จัดนิทรรศการมาแล้วหลายครั้ง รวมถึงที่ Mart Museum และ Palazzo Pretorio Museum ประเทศอิตาลี “Re-Enchanting the World” เป็นนิทรรศการครั้งล่าสุดของเธอซึ่งจัดที่เมืองฟลอเรนซ์ ประเทศอิตาลี ในเดือนพฤษภาคม ปี พ.ศ. 2565

A project by Tarshito featuring Inson Wongsam and Rampad Kothkaew

Institutional Partner: The Region of Apulia, Italy and River City Bangkok
The project “The Camp of the Wayfarers in Love” is created by Italian artist Tarshito with his inspiration to artistically meet natives and tribal custodians of traditions and ancestral values.
The foundation of this art practice is the study and knowledge of the Region of Apulia (Italy) and creating connections with international cultural symbols.
In this project, Tarshito explores the concept of nomadism, sets out to decorate camping tents together with artists and artisans of different countries from all over the world and we are pleased to announce Thailand is the first collaborating nation.
Veronica Caciolli, the exhibition’s curator, has connected Tarshito with two remarkable Thai individuals: the renowned national artist Inson Wongsam, who rode a Lambretta from Bangkok to Florence in 1963 in search of the roots of his master Corrado Feroci (Silpa Birasri), and Rampad Kothkaew, who has spent years working to preserve Lanna culture through the creation of the Monfai Cultural Center in Chiangmai. Their work in collaboration is the decoration of two camping tents with paintings by Tarshito and Inson Wongsam, as well as traditional Lanna fabrics made by Rampad Kothkaew.
After Thailand, the project will continue to China, India, and Indonesia, as well as Brazil, Santo Domingo, Israel, and Bangladesh.
This Thai chapter has been possible thanks to the support of the Italian Embassy in Bangkok and, as Institutional Partner, the Region of Apulia (Italy).

About the Artists and Curator
TARSHITO
Born in Puglia, Italy in 1952, Tarshito graduated in Architecture at the Faculty of Florence. Since his first trip to India in 1979, Tarshito peregrinates across the world feeling each time the gladness of meeting other cultures. His works express the importance of traveling inside and outside the space-time limits of reality. Tarshito’s works have been shown in galleries and museums around the world including Venice Biennale (2011), Bengal Art Foundation in Bangladesh, Museum of Sacred Art in Belgium.
INSON WONGSAM
Inson Wongsam was born on September 9, 1934, in Thailand’s Lamphun province. His father, Nai Muen was a descendant of a Yong hill tribe chieftain from southern China. Nai Muen was a keen goldsmith and Inson inherited these skills. Inson studied with Professor Silpa Bhirasri at the Faculty of Sculpture, Painting and Graphic Arts of Silpakorn University. Inson’s work has been admired throughout Thailand, as well as in Japan, India, Pakistan, Turkey, Austria, United States, Brazil, France, China and Italy. He is also well recognized in Thailand as the pioneer in wood block printing, for which he has earned several awards.
RAMPAD KOTHKAEW
Rampad Kothkaew has established and implemented the Lanna art and cultural center “Monfai” in Chiang Mai. The Lanna Cultural Center Project carries out activities to preserve the traditions of Northern Thailand, traditional craft wisdom, like restoration work, Thai Lanna dress style, Lanna style banquet and traditional Lanna wedding ceremonies. It is a learning center for local arts and culture for school and university students, Thai people as well as tourists, local and international. Project Ne-Na Contemporary art space is in collaboration with Professor Shukit Panmongkol. It is an international art project that makes use of Monfai to welcome artists from all over the world.
VERONICA CACIOLLI
Veronica Caciolli (B. 1977,Florence, IT) is an art historian, critic, curator, and lecturer. Her interests are mainly focused on the relationships between contemporary art and the archaic. She’s been educated in Philosophy at Florence University and in Humanities at DAMS (Disciplines of Visual Arts, Music, Theatre, TV, and Cinema – Bologna University). Then, she completed a series of advanced studies in Curating and Art Critique, History of Religions, Anthropology of Art, and Western Esotericism in Berlin, Rome, Milan, and London. Veronica has curated different shows including Mart Museum and Palazzo Pretorio Museum (IT). Her recent show is “Re-Enchanting the World” in Florence, Italy (May 2022).
