Informed consent means "permission granted in the knowledge of the possible consequences, typically that which is given by a patient to a doctor for treatment with full knowledge of the possible risks and benefits." Did you actually give informed consent when you were prescribed hormonal birth control? I doubt it greatly. Did they tell you that you could die from a pulmonary embolism? Did they tell it will increase your chances of getting breast cancer? Did they mention how it totally screws up your gut microbiome and depletes you of so many nutrients? Were you told you increased your chances of struggling with infertility afterwards? I am pretty sure all they mentioned was it would make your periods "better" and keep you from getting pregnant. That is what I used to spout to my patient's years ago before I knew any better. This is not informed consent.
