About this Event
Purpose
The purpose of this workshop is to bring residents, renters, homeowners, landlords, developers, housing advocates, service providers, veterans, seniors, students, and community leaders together to build a resident-centered Affordable Housing & Tenant Protections Agenda for Tallahassee.
This workshop will focus on the true meaning of affordable housing: housing that does not force families to choose between rent, food, medicine, utilities, transportation, and childcare.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
Participants will:
- Learn HUD’s general definition of affordable housing.
- Identify barriers to affordable housing in Tallahassee.
- Discuss tenant protections and landlord accountability.
- Review housing programs that residents may apply for.
- Identify local policy solutions.
- Build a community-driven housing platform.
