Our first workshop focuses on a topic many business owners are navigating right now: compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Whether you have a physical location or operate exclusively online, with a rise in ADA-related lawsuits for small businesses, it’s more important than ever to understand what’s required.

Led by Columbia Law School, this session offers practical guidance to help you protect your business while creating a more welcoming experience for customers. You’ll learn:

• What’s driving the increase in ADA lawsuits and how they affect local businesses
• Common accessibility issues from entryways, restrooms and signage, to e-commerce issues such as screen-reader compatibility, navigation and alt text
• Low-cost steps you can take right away to reduce risk and improve access
• How to spot potential problems before they turn into legal issues
• What to do if you receive a demand letter

The workshop will include a brief presentation by Alphapointe, a national nonprofit advancing access and economic opportunity for people who are blind or visually impaired.
