About this Event
Doors open 6pm
Join us for an exclusive screening of The Brexit Tree, a thought-provoking film exploring the personal and social consequences of Brexit through the story of a Weeping Willow planted on 31 Jan 2020, the day of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU. Symbolising loss and sorrow but also healing and rebirth, this communal planting project marked the historic day with a peaceful meeting place next to the river Deveron in the small Aberdeenshire town of Huntly.
This film invites us to reflect on the impact of the political upheaval that reshaped the UK in the run-up and post Brexit.
After the screening, a lively discussion will delve deeper into themes of identity, politics and personal transformation in a post-Brexit world.
Clemens Wilhelm, Jan Martinec and curators Claudia Zeiske and Francis McKee will be present.
