About this Event
The new work, “The Boy Who Drew Cats,” commissioned by The Old Stone House, is based on the Japanese folktale. A young boy who constantly draws cats acquires magical powers from his drawings, and defeats a horde of magical rats occupying a temple.
In addition, chamber music from his ballet of “Where The Wild Things Are”, pianist Kathleen Supové will perform Woolf’s “Milk And Cookies”, and the premiere of his “The Soap Museum” for string quartet and percussion. Also, accordion music by legendary master of the ‘vertical piano’ Guy Klucevsek.
Before the concert, audience members are welcome to create their own artistic soaps, using materials we will provide: colorings, fragrances, and mix-ins like dried flowers.
“The Boy Who Drew Cats” and “Milk And Cookies" were commissioned by The Old Stone House and in part, by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature.
