About this Event

Join us for a cosy, magical evening of books, conversation, and clever trading. This isn’t your typical book swap—expect a little strategy, a lot of laughter, some suitably spooky prompts, and the chance to walk away with something unexpected.

✨ What to expect

• 🎤 Pitch your book
  You’ll get fun Halloween-themed prompts to help you “sell” your book to others—dramatic, persuasive, spooky, or with the utmost sincerity (your choice).
• 🔄 Swap rounds
  You’ll be paired up or put into groups for quick-fire rounds to pitch, connect, and decide whether to trade or hold onto your book.
• 👻 Free swapping round
  Don't worry if you end up with a read you don't want. There'll be a 'free swapping' round at the end where you can put your book on the table for someone else to take and pick up another one.
• 🏆 Lighthearted prizes
  There’ll be a prize for Best Pitch — so bring your best book-selling skills!

📍 Location & details

We're hosting the event in the attic space on the top floor of Fossgate Tap. You can access the room through the staircase to the right of the bar. Staff should be able to point you in the right direction, and please feel free to drop us a message on the day if you can't find your way.

To note, there is unfortunately no step-free access.
