"An absolute must for every lover of soulful blues and rock."- Blues Magazine
"An unforgettable first-rate thrill ride.”- Blues Notes
Their 2025 Gulf Coast Records release 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘛𝘰 𝘉𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 debuted at #9 on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart, topped radio charts in the UK, France, and Germany, and was named one of the 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟮𝟬 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝘂𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 (𝘉𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘴 𝘙𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸). The record features a staggering roster of guests — Bobby Rush, Charlie Musselwhite, Coco Montoya, Don Was, and Jimmy Carpenter — and was produced by longtime collaborator John Wooler.
The story begins in Detroit in 1980, when Randy Jacobs met soul legend Sweetpea Atkinson during a session for brothers Don and David Was. Their chemistry powered Was (Not Was) through the 1980s and into the early '90s — co-writing the worldwide smash "Walk the Dinosaur" and touring European arenas with Dire Straits — before Randy went on to record with Bonnie Raitt, BB King, Seal, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Bootsy Collins, Stevie Wonder, Iggy Pop, and Tears For Fears. It was Bonnie Raitt herself who christened the band "The Boneshakers."
Signed to Pointblank / Virgin Records in 1996, the band released two acclaimed albums and built a loyal international following. In 2015, a celebrated chapter began with Grammy-nominated sax star Mindi Abair, releasing four albums on Concord Records and touring the world. That era earned the band 𝟴 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 including 𝟴 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀, an 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 for 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝗴 (𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗼𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮), and a 𝗟𝗼𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 for Best Holiday Album.
In 2022, powerhouse vocalist Jenny Langer — 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗲 at age 28 and 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 (𝗜𝗕𝗖) 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 for 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝘂𝗺 — joined the band. Their 2023 album 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘵 𝘐𝘯 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘷𝘦 shot to #𝟭 on both the 𝗨𝗞 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 and 𝗨𝗦 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗹 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀. The band opened 2026 with nominations for 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 at the 𝗨𝗞 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 and 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗖 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 at the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀. Thirty years in, The Boneshakers are one of the most electrifying live acts in roots music.
