The Body Refuses to Remain — An Installation–Performance
About this Event
The Body Refuses to Remain
An Installation–Performance
18–19 December 2026 | Patriothall Gallery, Edinburgh
What happens when a body refuses to remain within the image that has been made of it?
The Body Refuses to Remain is an installation–performance exploring the relationship between the female body, images, visibility and absence.
Developed through Ayda Pakzad Afshar's ongoing artistic research project The Coveration of Eve, the work brings collage beyond the flat surface and into physical space. Fragments of images, suspended frames, light and shadows form an installation in which relationships between bodies and images can shift.
During the live performance, the presence and movement of the performers activate this spatial collage, changing how its fragments are seen, connected and interpreted.
The work has developed through artistic research at Hospitalfield and Cove Park in Scotland during 2026.
