About this Event
No matter how hard we try, we can't see the forest for the trees. When we are caught in the middle of our business, blind spots inevitably form without ever knowing where or what information it's blocking.
Your business is generating information every single day. The question isn't whether it exists. It's whether blind spots are preventing you from seeing and capturing it. There's a gap between information that exists and information that reaches your desk.
This workshop helps you map out and identify (missed) opportunities for bridging this gap of collecting information in your business.
What This Session Is and What It Isn't
This is a Step 0 Diagnostic workshop based on Kantency's "Mastering Feedback" teachings. The work you do here becomes the foundation for every intentional change that follows.
NOT
This is NOT a "change everything" workshop. You will NOT leave with a rebuilt process, a new script, nor a complete operational overhaul.
You will NOT be lectured, spoon fed answers, nor given empty & theoretical frameworks.
IS
This IS a big picture mapping workshop. You WILL leave with tools to improve your communication, a perspective shift that highlights current blindspots, and clear next steps of improvements to make in your business.
You WILL be given prompts for activities and discussions, be applying the frameworks directly into your own business, and will be expected to wear your thinking hat.
Who This Is For
This workshop is built for solopreneurs, small business owners, and organizational leaders who are responsible for the big picture of how their business operates. If you make decisions, manage relationships, or rely on information from others to move forward (and if you've been feeling more reactive than intentional lately), this workshop was designed with you in mind.
You may be currently experiencing:
- exhaustion from constant reactivity
- frustration from feeling like the business has control over you, not the other way around
- irritation knowing that there's a missing piece just out of your reach
- confusion from where mismatches of information are coming from (e.x. clients say one thing but the data says something else)
You don't need to come in with all the answers. You just need to come in ready to look.
Examples of who you may be:
- Solopreneur that's operating from an outdated systems process, built their process on the fly or technically doesn't have one mapped out
- Business owner that does their strategic planning alone or can't seem to make the time to prioritize doing it at all
- Service provider whose clients say one thing but the client's actions seem to say something different
- Leader who is too caught up working in their business to see the big picture of working on their business
- Capable professional who is tired of putting out fires and wants to shift from being reactive to being intentional
THE BIG PICTURE MAP OF THE WORKSHOP
The Morning:
Communication Focus- Learning and Practicing the Tools
We start by establishing a shared language and foundation using Kantency's Step 0 framework, i.e. a tool for big picture mapping, creative problem solving and shifting our perspective.
The Step 0 Framework shifts our perspective on "Feedback" into seeing it simply as "Information" and a communication tool. In all of our communications, we aim to convey and extract information, whether it's with our team, our clients, our contractors or our partners.
Through three core lenses and six practical tools, you'll begin to see your communication patterns differently, practice the tools firsthand, and recognize where information is already being shaped, filtered, or lost before it ever reaches you.
The three lenses:
- Requesting — how feedback is asked for, and why the direction and timing of a question determine the quality of what comes back
- Receiving — how feedback is interpreted, and how competing voices and internal filters shape what information is actually absorbed
- Reacting — how responses affect trust, safety, and whether people are willing to share honestly again
The six tools you'll work with:
- Direction of the Feedback - what's the purpose of the feedback and where is it currently taking you?
- Timing of the Feedback - are you asking for feedback at the wrong time?
- Voice of the Feedback - which feedback is the loudest vs the wisest?
- Interpreting the Feedback - what's being said between the lines of the feedback received?
- Repercussions of the Feedback - are people comfortable giving you the hard truth or are there power imbalances influencing the feedback given?
- Feedback of the Feedback - how are you acknowledging the feedback that was received?
The Afternoon:
Systems- Mapping and Diagnosing with the Tools
In the afternoon, you bring everything you've learned directly into your own business.
You'll choose one or two areas of your operations where you feel the most resistance: client relations, staff dynamics, customer interactions, event experiences, or any process that has recurring friction you haven't been able to trace back to its source. We'll map out what that journey currently looks like, where information is being collected, where it's being missed or misread, and where tension has been quietly building as a result.
By the end of the afternoon, you'll have three things in front of you that you didn't have when you walked in:
- a map of what your current system actually looks like
- a clearer picture of what you want it to look like
- a grounded first step for how to begin closing the gap
What You'll Walk Away With
Communication:
- Identify common pitfalls and assumptions in how we currently approach feedback conversations (with clients, staff or peers)
- Learn how to read between the lines of what is being said in feedback conversations (with clients, staff or peers)
- Practice applying the 6 tools of feedback through group activities to strengthen communication skills
Sytems:
- Clarity on where informaton is currently being collected, missed or misread in your systems
- A big picture map of how information flows in the one or two areas of current resistance in your business
- A diagnosed source of resistance you may not have been able to name before today
- Actionable item "next steps" you take home, use and immediately apply in your systems
