The Big Family Day returns to Williamson Park on Sunday 15th May and it's your chance to experience the Highest Point Festival site with all the family and lot's to do for all.For just £10 adults and £5 for the kids (5 and under go free) you can roam the entire site and take in all the sights and sounds that Highest Point offers, with a different kind of superstar lineup for all to enjoy.
For starters Lancaster's very own legendary butterfly house and mini zoo is open and included in the price. So if you've ever wondered what meerkats get up to when they aren't searching for car insurance or how long a caterpllar takes to become a butterfly then this wonderful year round attraction is here for you to enjoy in the ticket price.
Just across the courtyard inside the glorious Ashton Memorial the team from Hartbeeps are the original music story tellers and creators of multi-sensory play for babies and young children and will be running sessions all day for the young ones to enjoy. Half way up the memorial you can step outside to take in the views of the festival and across morecambe bay (we don't call it Highest Point for nothing) whilst a few more stairs you can join the team at Magical Story Jars for adventure themed crafty story creation.
Every festival needs it's music and family day is no different. Whether it's dancing down in the woods to disco classics, making instruments as part of our recycled rubbish instrument workshops or learning to drum with the samba specialists Batala there's plenty to enjoy everywhere.
Of course, if you want to just sit back and enjoy the main stage we've got some fantastic things to see and do. Hosted by Beyond Radio we have the fantastic Stagecoach Drama School providing singing and dance shows, The Wonderful Mad Science show teaching us all about Spin, Pops and Booms with Northern Heights Dance showing off their acrobatic skills. Highest Point of course wouldn't be complete without some amazing music from the areas very own Amy J and the mighty legends that are The Lottery Winners finishing off the day.
Whether it's amongst the food court, inside the big top, down by the waterfall or rolling down a hill, throughout the site you will experience magnificent story telling, theatre (including a new partnership with The Dukes in Lancaster) arts, crafts and much more for everyone to enjoy with everything (apart from your food, drink and ice creams) included in your ticket price!
The site opens at 10am with activities ending around 4pm and the site finally closing around 6pm once you've had your tea. We look forward to smiling & dancing with you :)
