Laenye Productions presents "The Bench"A park bench may seem ordinary, yet it carries a lifetime of untold stories. Co-workers sharing lunch. Strangers meeting by chance. Heartbreaks, confessions, quiet turning points. This humble bench has witnessed it all.
The Bench invites the audience to watch these moments unfold in real time. Through a series of interconnected scenes, humour sits alongside tenderness and emotional truth. Each encounter leaves a trace, revealing how even the smallest moments can shape a life.
Originally developed and performed on stages around the world — including the Auckland Improv Festival, the Auckland Improv Marathon, and the Tolfama International Festival of Improvised Arts in Rome (Italy) — The Bench returns to Auckland for one night only.
Directed by Matías Avaca, this special edition brings together a multidisciplinary, multicultural and multilingual ensemble of local performers, each offering their own voice and lived experience to the stories that unfold.
Take a seat. The bench is ready to speak. When the night ends, these stories will never be seen again.
