Inspired by a presentation from Chris Baker several years ago, and using Chris’s book ‘From the Channel to the Ypres Salient’ as a guide,Peter spent three days exploring the Belgian coast from Ostend to de Panne. This talk attempts to outline what can be seen, both in terms of places and memorials, and to examine how the First World War made a lasting impact on Belgian – and even British – memory and
identity.
