About this Event

Welcome to The Beatle "Live at The BBC" Vol 1 & 2 with The Beatles Guitar Project event! Join us on Sat Aug 10 2024 at 7:00 PM at The Auditorium at CLARA for a night filled with the iconic music of The Beatles.

The Beatles’ first official collection of BBC radio recordings, Live At The BBC contained songs from a range of shows dating from January 1963 to May 1965, and was released in November 1994.

Between 7 March 1962 and 26 May 1965, The Beatles performed on 52 BBC radio shows, the bulk of which – 47 appearances – took place in 1963 and 1964. These included their own show Pop Go The Beatles, which ran for 15 episodes from June 1963.

Many of the performances included cover versions which the band never recorded for EMI. In all, they recorded 275 performances of 88 different songs for the BBC, of which 36 never appeared on their singles or studio albums.

“I had been a lifelong Beatles fan, and had played all their albums thousands of times, when this collection came out I was THRILLED! SO many songs performed by the Beatles that I had never heard before. It was great to hear all these great old rock and roll songs played by my favorite band, I was in heaven. This was also a great peek into the stage show of the Beatles before they made it.”

-Kali (Beatles Fan)

The Beatles Guitar Project Artistic Director, Benjamin J McClara, has transcribed, written & arranged every Beatles album for the Project to perform in front of a live audience & has sought out to teach students of music about the history of rock and roll. McClara had this to say about it, “This show definitely has more songs than we’ve ever attempted, so a two day show made the most sense. But it’s also more than I’ve ever asked of my students. If I wasn’t working with the students I have right now, I’d never be able to do this heavy of a show. This history of rock and roll in this show is like nothing we’ve ever tackled (almost 3x as many songs as The White Album!) Thank goodness The Beatles hadn’t discovered an Orchestra yet!”

To all the singer song writers out there, and all musicians and fans of rock and roll… This is THE show to attend if you want to hear exactly why The Beatles became the band they were. This part of their evolution is glossed over way too much… people go straight to Abbey Road and say “this is my favorite album,” and haven't a clue as to the songs and covers led them there. This is the foundation of The Beatles right here, and it is truly FAB part of Beatles History.

The Beatles Guitar Project is HOT off their presentation of Please Please Me and Meet The Beatles, which was a SOLD OUT show at the end of May. These last two Beatles Guitar Project shows are needed to raise the last of the funding for the Guardians of The Galaxy winter tour.

We hope you’ll come both nights:

Saturday August 10th at 7pm &

Sunday August 11th at 6pm

for this truly ambitious show of early Beatles Music. Support local music & local nonprofit Org Sacramento Preparatory Music Academy, as they do what they do best… help raise the next generation of Sacramento musicians.

Featuring: Peter Andrew Petty, Hans Eberbach, Rick Fulkerson, Melissa Fulkerson, Greg Williams, Darrin Baker & Director, Benjamin J McClara.

And Featuring SPMA Beatles Guitar Project Students:

Logan Kanotz, Anthony Boccaleoni, Angelica Hays & Chole Hoig
