About this Event
Please note: RSVP is required to attend.
Join photographer Wara Vargas Lara for a presentation about her book , a long-term project rooted in the Kallawaya cultural territory of the Bolivian Andes. Since 2014, Vargas has worked closely with traditional midwives and their communities, documenting ancestral knowledge, rituals, and practices around birth and care passed down through generations. When she was unable to witness a birth herself, she invited children to narrate their own beginnings—transforming the project into a visual diary of place, memory, and gratitude.
This free gathering is part of the BDC’s Photo Community Circle, a space for photographers to learn from one another, share work, and exchange feedback.
This event will take place in the BDC’s Tim Hetherington Photobook Library, located on the second floor of 614 Courtlandt Ave, Bronx.
Please note: due to space limitations, RSVP is required to attend.
