Reception and Exhibit of 17 Original Watercolors depicting the Battle of
Shallow Ford by Rick Jones, of Clemmons, NC, Huntsville Baptist Church
Fellowship Hall, 4901 Courtney-Huntsville Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055. This event
is free and open to anyone who is interested.
Saturday, October 11, 2025, 9:30 am – 11:00 am, Free Event with suggested
donation of $5.00 to cover rent on the room.
Annual Seminar on Documenting the Participants in the 1780 Battle of
Shallow ford, Huntsville Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 4901 Courtney-Huntsville
Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Andrew L. Mackie, local historian, will lead this
seminar. This event is sponsored by the Yadkin County Historical and Genealogical
Society, which is compiling a book on the known participants in the battle, which
engaged local Loyalist militia from Surry County and local militias from North
Carolina and Virginia.

Commemoration of the 245 th Anniversary of the Battle of Shallow Ford
(October 14, 1780), historic Huntsville Methodist Episcopal Church, 4214 Mt. Sinai
Drive, Yadkinville, NC, 27055. Fred Learned and the Bethabara Chapter of the
Sons of the American Revolution will conduct the program, with speaker, Bill
Partin.
Saturday, October 11, 2025, 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm, Luncheon at Huntsville Baptist
Church Fellowship Hall, 4901 Courtney-Huntsville Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
Seated is limited, so registration of $20 per person is required and must be
received before September 30, 2025, contact LAAC.tripod.com and follow the
prompts. The Women of Huntsville Baptist Church are providing the meal.
Saturday, October 11, 2025, 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm, Free Event, Walking Tour of the
Battlefield, Park on Mulberry Fields Road, Add Address.
Participants must sign a liability waiver form, per the property owner. Forms
will be available. This tour is a strenuous walk, so children and adults with

walking challenges may not want to go. There is no wheelchair access or
motorized traffic available on this tour. Participants can do these things:
Walk on the historic Mulberry Fields Road and view its deep road cut.
Walk through the woods where the 45-minute battle occurred.
Visit the grave of Patriot Henry Francis, Sr., who was killed in the battle.
Pause to remember the 15 local Loyalists killed in the battle.
Encircle the Big Poplar Tree that witnessed the battle 245 years ago.
View the Battle Branch, where Patriots ambushed the Loyalist Surry County
Militia and won the battle.

Fellowship Hall of Huntsville Baptist Church for a wrap-up of the weekend’s
events, complete an evaluation form, and fellowship.
