Join us at Lynnie's Lil' Leaf Nursery for a completely free, hands-on demonstration focused on resetting your garden beds for winter. Instead of fighting your soil or stripping it bare, we will walk through the natural "autumn bed flow"—a simple, pesticide-free sequencing method that relies on human-scale tools and local organic amendments to protect your soil microbiology and set you up for an effortless spring layout.
What we will cover together:
• Clearing Smart: How to handle spent summer crops. Learn which roots are best left in place to naturally rot down and feed your earthworms, and how to cleanly clear heavy stalks like sunflowers and tomatoes.
• Broadforking 101: Watch a live demo on how to use your body weight to slide steel tines deep into the soil. You'll learn how to break up tough winter compaction and open up the ground without flipping the soil or disrupting your beneficial microbes.
• Feeding & Tucking In: Learn how to layer local mushroom compost right over your freshly prepped beds. This lets autumn rains wash nutrients straight down to the root zone before we top it off with a cozy "winter blanket" of straw or leaves to prevent frost heaving.

What to bring: Bring your favorite pair of gardening gloves and handy hand pruners if you want to test out some techniques with us.
📍 Location & Space Note: Because my fenced garden has narrow, single-file walkways under the cattle panels, we want to make sure everyone stays comfortable and has a perfect view. We will be gathered on the open grass lawn right outside the fence line for the main demonstrations! Please dress for the weather and wear footwear suitable for standing on a damp or uneven grass lawn. 🥾🍂
