The Author Upstairs: A Night of Art and Story

An evening of art and story will be held JUNE 22, 2021 at the WIREGRASS MUSEUM OF ART, 126 Museum Ave, Dothan, AL. A partnership between the Friends of the Dothan Houston County Library System and the Wiregrass Museum of Art, this evening will feature bestselling author Rachel Moore Hawkins. She will be discussing her first adult release, THE WIFE UPSTAIRS, and her upcoming novels to be released in late 2021 and early 2022.

A ticketed event, this evening will include a wine and cheese reception beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Wiregrass Museum of Art gardens with galleries open for ticket holders only. For an additional fee, patrons can attend a REUNION WITH RACHEL, a meet and greet with a light supper beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the lower level of the museum gallery. All tickets are non-refundable and must be purchased in advance.

NYT and USA Today best selling author of THE WIFE UPSTAIRS.

Rachel Hawkins was born in Newport News, VA, and raised in Dothan, AL. She graduated from Houston Academy in 1998 before pursuing a degree in English Literature at Auburn University. After getting her B.A. in 2002, Rachel moved to Madison, AL with her husband, John, where they lived for six years, teaching high school at Sparkman High in Harvest, AL. While at Sparkman, Rachel became interested in Young Adult Literature, and decided to try her hand at writing it. Her first YA novel, HEX HALL, was published by Disney-Hyperion in 2010. Three other novels in the series followed before she published another YA trilogy, REBEL BELLE, with Penguin Random House.

After writing eleven books for children, Rachel shifted to thrillers, her adult debut, THE WIFE UPSTAIRS, publishing with St. Martin’s Press in 2021. An instant NYT and USA Today Bestseller, THE WIFE UPSTAIRS is a modern retelling of Jane Eyre, set in Mountain Brook, Alabama.

Rachel’s next thriller, RECKLESS GIRLS, will be out from St. Martin’s Press in 2022, and she also writes romances under the pen name Erin Sterling. Her first romance, THE EX HEX, will be released from William Morrow Books in October 2021.

Rachel’s writing has been published on Crime Reads, Bustle, and Refinery29. Her books are available in over twenty territories and in over a dozen languages. She and her family currently live in Auburn, Alabama.
