About this Event
Welcome to The Arts In Maintaining Humanity: 80 Years After Auschwitz event! Join us at United Church of Gainesville for a powerful evening filled with art, music, and reflection. Let's come together to commemorate the role of leading European Jewish composers sent to the death camps in WW2. There they composed and led fellow prisoners in song at the end of brutal days. The music was a means of expressing hope and helping to maintain a sense of humanity. The composers were murdered along with their piers, but their compositions have been found and the choir assures that their music lives on. The world is now reflecting on 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with the community and pay tribute to those composers who supported their fellow prisoners. See you there!
