About this Event

With over 4 million copies sold, Julia Cameron's classic text The Artist's Way has inspired artists across mediums to build and strengthen their creative routines for over 30 years, and has been praised by the likes of Elizabeth Gilbert, Pete Townsend, and Martin Scorsese. Designed for individuals stuck in creative blocks, Cameron’s method challenges readers to assume daily and weekly rituals, including stream of consciousness journaling and “The Artist Date,” a dedicated block of time to nurture your inner artist, over 12 weeks. Cameron writes, “No matter what your age or your life path, whether making art is your career or your hobby or your dream, it is not too late or too egotistical or too selfish or too silly to work on your creativity.”

Artistic energy and ambition surges in the New Year, but can be difficult to maintain as the winter months continue. This workshop encourages participants to start and stick with the 12 week program of The Artist’s Way by building not only a creative, but a communal practice. Facilitators Kelley Cape and Mariana Klober will guide participants through each chapter of the book while providing additional thought provoking prompts, artistic activities, and a weekly space for participants to share their insights and stay accountable to their craft!

"The Artist's Way is not exclusively about writing—it is about discovering and developing the artist within, whether a painter, poet, screenwriter, or musician—but it is a lot about writing. If you have always wanted to pursue a creative dream, have always wanted to play and create with words or paints, this book will gently get you started and help you learn all kinds of paying-attention techniques; and that, after all, is what being an artist is all about. It's about learning to pay attention."
