THE ART OF WORLD BUILDING
Live performance of BINGE, drinks reception, artist talk & Q&A with Ornagh
What happens when an artwork doesn't end at the edge of the canvas, stage or screen — but becomes part of an entire world?
Join artist Ornagh for an evening of live performance and conversation exploring the creation of Orlyn World — an evolving artistic universe spanning installation, performance, video, virtual reality and writing.
The evening begins with a live performance of BINGE, created and performed by Ornagh and Rosie Greenwood, before moving into a drinks reception and The Art of World Building, an artist talk exploring how individual artworks become interconnected chapters within a much larger universe.
BINGE — Live Performance
What do you reach for when you don't want to feel what you're feeling?
An itch. An old thought. A familiar pull towards something that promises to make everything quieter.
BINGE is a live contemporary performance exploring the seductive space between thought, desire and compulsion. Moving beyond our familiar ideas of bingeing and addiction, the work looks towards the quieter ways we escape ourselves — the everyday rituals of relief we rarely think to question, and what they might quietly be keeping us from in the long run.
Performed by Ornagh and Rosie Greenwood, the work follows the shifting relationship between a woman and an urge that begins as something to resist, before becoming familiar, pleasurable and increasingly difficult to escape.
When does the thing that offers escape become the thing we can't escape?
The Art of World Building — Artist Talk
Following the performance, Ornagh will take audiences behind the scenes of her multidisciplinary practice and the creation of Orlyn World — an evolving artistic universe built around a central question:
Who could you be if you were free?
Working across installation, performance, video art, virtual reality and writing, Ornagh creates interconnected characters, environments and narratives through which she explores consciousness, identity, freedom and the forces that shape our inner lives.
The talk will explore how an idea moves between mediums; how personal experience can evolve into mythology; and how recurring characters and energies such as the Nors and Orns allow individual artworks to become part of a wider narrative.
From physical installations to performance and emerging digital worlds, Ornagh will share the creative process behind building a universe designed to exist across both physical and virtual space — and how each new work reveals another part of its story.
The evening concludes with an audience Q&A.
