About this Event
Workshop & Lecture Bundle
Time-lapse movies are a great way to show long periods of time on a compressed scale. Aside from that, they can be really fun to make and cool to watch! Imagine documenting the night sky, or the sunrise or a sunset. The possibilities are endless.
From the way motion plays out in front of the camera to the duration of the event you are trying to capture, there are many elements that go into the creation of a time-lapse.
In this workshop, Brian Leary will teach you all of the components necessary to make a professional-looking time-lapse video from a series of still images. Not only will you learn in the classroom, but you will also shoot and process a time-lapse. This hands-on workshop will get you started on your own time-lapse journey.
MEET: We will meet as a group out in front of the Great Seattle Wheel
Gear you'll need:
• Camera with the ability to shoot still images in intervals or with the ability to take a cable release with interval abilities. You can reference your camera manual or search the internet for your model for interval shooting mode.
• Cable release with interval abilities. (If your camera doesn't have that ability)
• Tripod
• Neutral density filter of 6 or 10 stops
• Spare battery
• Optional small folding stool, snacks and water
Disclaimer: Because cameras and cable releases vary, you will be responsible for knowing how your equipment works before attending this class. Be sure to take some time to learn how to either access your interval shooting mode, or how your camera and cable release w/intervelometer work before the class.
We require a minimum of 4 people. If we do not meet our minimum, you will be notified 48hrs prior to class and will receive a full refund.

About your instructor:
Brian Leary was initially exposed to photography while spending time with his father in a color darkroom, and began developing his own photographic interests when he moved to the Pacific Northwest as an adult. Brian has pursued his unique style and talent for photography over the past twenty-plus years in the industry. Today, he still uses the same methods with digital photography that he would have on film.
What sets Brian apart is not only his work as a photographer but his passion to share his knowledge of the art form with others. He has a unique talent for breaking down complex subjects and communicating techniques that not only make sense, but stick in practice! Brian Leary founded in 2023 and now runs individualized tutoring workshop sessions that address each photographer’s specific needs and pain points. Brian focuses one-on-one attention so that his clients learn specific abilities to turn their photography aspirations into a reality. He is the kind of instructor you want to work with: a teacher who loves watching people light up when they get a great shot; especially when it’s a shot they didn’t think they could capture.
